Yamaha W104B in High Polished Teak

Built in 1981

#W3268954

Width – 59 1/2” Height – 48” Depth – 24 1/2”

The Yamaha W series are very similar to the U series. The differences are usually the cabinet design. Which one can see that this piano in particular has a very modern style to it with legs that are not protruding from the body and lots of straight lines. It also has a teak wood cabinet in high polished finish. Probably due to this piano’s higher quality hammers than the usual Yamaha U series upright, it has a tone that is more rich and warm than most.

The 48″ Upright is a perfect size for the home, church, or studio space. Being one of the most popular pianos in the world we carry a large stock of Yamaha U1’s ranging in age and use. As with any piano, each is slightly different from another. Although the action of the Yamaha piano is widely known for being exact across the board, the tone of each individual piano will cater to a different ear. We highly suggest that any buyer should visit our store to experience the uniqueness of each piano.

“Grey Market” Yamaha pianos

We do like to carry Yamaha pianos made and once sold in Japan. We have had only excellent experiences with them as well. We import not only Yamahas, but also Yamaha made pianos like Eterna. Also we import Kawai, and their other names like Diapason, and many more. If there was ever a problem with any of these pianos like The Yamaha Corp., likes to claim that there is, we would have stopped importing these fine instruments years ago. But instead Yamaha and their dealers like to distort the truth, because when it comes down to it, the biggest competition to Yamaha’s new piano sales is not just Kawai, but their own used pianos.

Kawai has no problem with their used pianos made and once sold in Japan being sold in our shop along side with their own new pianos. They are confident in their new pianos, and we are too. The truth is these pianos (Yamaha, Kawai and their subsidiaries) are all made in air conditioned factories that set up each piano to withstand the extremes in climate from the dryness of the Arizona desert to the humidity of a New York summer. And being here in California, more specifically in the San Francisco bay area, we do not get much in the way of weather extremes. But still we encourage you to venture out on your own and research for yourself about what a grey market piano is. One place that everyone can start and is probably the most trusted of sources is “The Piano Book” by Larry Fine. Also there are plenty of websites as well. The bottom line is we are completely confident in ANY piano that we sell.

The Yamaha UX Piano is very similar to the U3 model. It is 52″ in height and usually a polished ebony finish. It differs in the design only slightly in the cabinet. But, where the usual construction of a piano is to have vertical support beams in its back, the UX has an “X” support. This is supposed to support the tension of the strings better and thus enabling the piano to hold its tuning longer than “normal” pianos. Some people say that the UX pianos have a slightly deeper sound to them, meaning more body. But regardless of its structural differences one important plus that it has over the U3 is the hammer. The UX comes with a mahogany molded hammer which gives it a nicer, more well rounded tone.

The 52″ Upright is a perfect size for the home, church, or studio space. Being one of the most popular piano manufacturers in the world we always carry a large stock of Yamaha U series pianos ranging in age and use. We highly suggest that any buyer should visit our store to experience the uniqueness of each piano.

Well what can we say…. This is definitely the coolest U3 that we’ve seen. It is extremely rare to find it in the U.S. as they were only originally sold in Japan. But look at it! Two tone, a retro Yamaha logo only seen on a few models of pianos. But more importantly, it sounds great! Almost like an American piano, it has much more body to its sound than its modern counterpart. This piano is a find! And surely someone will love how it fits their decor.

Yamaha C3 6′1″ Grand Piano in Polished Ebony

Length – 6’ 1” Width – 58 1/2”

These Yamaha grand pianos were built in Yamaha’s true golden years of manufacturing. With rich, clear tones and fullness these pianos are always a pleasure to play. We love to find Yamaha pianos made roughly between 1965 -1985. Whether it’s the woods used in them or the building techniques used in those years they consistently sound better than their modern day counterparts. These pianos have been kept up extremely well. They show very light signs of use and wear. The bass strings are still rich and full of tone and the hammers have been very lightly played.

Wurlitzer pianos in these years are in general excellent quality instruments. Even when you compare their spinets and consoles to similar pianos, the Wurlitzer seems to always stand out for having a rich sound. This piano is a dark, warm sounding instrument. It has a nice well-rounded, tone. The rare, art deco, mahogany cabinet has just been refinished. Beautiful rounded edges, a wood grain that would cost a small fortune today, and tapered column legs all contribute to this unique, elegant, art-deco instrument.
